Roof Replacement
Shingle and metal roofing options for homeowners who need a durable, professional roof replacement.
Scarfo Construction helps South Carolina homeowners with roof replacement, roof repair, metal roofing, decks, siding, porches, remodeling, and general construction backed by decades of hands-on experience.
Scarfo Construction is based in Newberry, South Carolina and serves homeowners across the surrounding communities. We understand the homes, the weather, the roofing problems, and the kind of practical communication homeowners need before starting a project.
From roofing and repairs to decks, porches, siding, and general construction, our goal is simple: help homeowners protect and improve their property with work that feels solid, honest, and built to last.
Scarfo Construction has served homeowners and property owners since 1993. Joe came up as a general contractor in Florida, where the codes are tougher and the training is serious. That mindset still guides the work today.
We are based in Newberry, South Carolina, and this is home. Our children and grandchildren are here, our roots are here, and we are not a company that blows into town, sells a job, and disappears.
We are not the contractor who tells every homeowner they need a whole new roof, a whole new wall, or a full replacement just to make the job bigger. If it can be repaired correctly, we will tell you that.
If the problem is deeper — bad decking, rotten fascia, sagging floor, moisture, poor venting, or damage underneath — we will show you what is going on and explain the right fix before covering it up.
Whether you need a roof replacement, a metal roof, repairs, siding, a deck, a porch, or a broader construction project, Scarfo Construction brings real-world experience to the table.

“Scarfo replaced our entire roof after a major hailstorm. They handled everything with our insurance company and the work was done in two days. Couldn’t be more impressed with the professionalism and quality.”
“I’ve used Scarfo twice — once for a repair and once for a full replacement on my lake house. Both times: on time, clean work, fair price. They’re the only roofers I’ll call in this area.”
“Had a roof leak we’d been ignoring. Called Scarfo, they came out next morning, found the issue, fixed it same day. No upsell, no pressure — just honest work at a fair price.”
“After last storm season I had three contractors look at my roof. Scarfo was the most knowledgeable, gave the most detailed estimate, and came in at a fair price. The metal roof they installed looks incredible.”
From estimates and pricing to metal roofing, repairs, warranties, and how Scarfo Construction does the work, here are the questions homeowners ask most.
We’re a full construction company — not just roofers. We do roofing, siding, flooring, foundation work, kitchens, the whole house. If something’s wrong with your home, we’ll come look at it and fix it the right way.
We came up as general contractors in Florida, where the codes are some of the toughest in the country. In Florida, you have to go to school to be a roofer. In South Carolina, you don’t — anybody can hang a shingle. We hold our work to the Florida standards we were trained on, not the bare minimum South Carolina allows. So you’re getting a roof built the right way by people who learned it the hard way.
No. The estimate is free. We come out, walk your property, get up in the attic, and look at your interior walls to see what’s really going on. Then we tell you straight whether it needs a repair or a replacement. Not every roof needs to be replaced. And because we’ve been doing this for so many years, sometimes we can give you the price right there before we leave.
We charge $350 a square for shingles and $385 a square for our lifetime metal roofing. A “square” is 100 square feet of roof. So if your roof is 20 squares, your shingle roof is 20 × $350 = $7,000. Easy math, no hidden line items. You know the number before we ever start.
We get up on the roof and measure it. That’s the only way to know what you’re actually paying for. We don’t guess off your house size — Joe gets up there every time. We measure the roof, factor in the pitch and the complexity, and give you a real number. That’s why our estimate is solid and there’s no surprise when the bill comes.
Because a metal roof is not just panels. People only see the panels. They don’t see the small stuff that makes the roof actually work — the transitions, end walls, side walls, rakes, eaves, valleys, hips, and the ridge cap that runs across the top. Every one of those pieces is cut to a different angle for your specific roof — one transition might be 132.5 degrees, a side wall 104 degrees. They fit together like a puzzle. Add the pipe boots at about $50 each (and a house might have three or four), the color-matched tube sealant, and the oversized fasteners — and you can see what you’re really paying for. It’s an engineered system, not a stack of pans.
No. We get up in the attic and look before we touch anything, so we know what’s really wrong before we ever quote you. If we go to put flooring down and the floor is sagging, we’re not going to lay new floor over a bad subfloor just to take your money — and we’re not going to Band-Aid it either. We tell you the truth, we fix the cause, and you don’t get a surprise call six months later because something we covered up failed.
Putting a roof on is a lot more than nailing down shingles. Here’s what we do on your home: 1. Get in the attic first. We check the decking for rot and penetrating nails before we do anything. You’ve got to find out what’s going on up there — it’s more than just the roof. 2. Ice and water shield. Peel-and-stick protection that seals against leaks — not the cheap felt most crews get away with here. 3. Fascia done right. We replace rotted or damaged fascia so the edge of your roof is solid, not just covered up. 4. Proper venting. If your roof can’t breathe, it cooks your shingles and your attic. We add soffit and venting where it’s missing. 5. The whole system. A roof is everything working together. We protect the home underneath, not just the part you see from the street.
A lot of contractors just buy panels and screw them to your roof. That is not a proper install. A real metal roof is a system, and we’re certified installers for Best Buy Metals. We offer standing seam — hidden fasteners, a modern look — and through-fastened ribbed panels, the most cost-effective option and still beautiful. Both are high-quality, powder-coated, baked-on color. Our fasteners are oversized cut-match screws with a neoprene rubber washer — almost like a little umbrella — so no water gets down and around to penetrate your roof. In years of installs, we don’t get called back to replace our screws. We get called out to fix metal roofs other people put up wrong.
We don’t rush roofs. A lot of contractors will tear off and reshingle in a day with a big crew, and yeah, it looks good when they leave. But a month from now, six months from now, a year down the road, you’re going to have problems — because they moved too fast. We work with two to three people on the roof — small crew, tight work, no shortcuts. A typical roof takes us two to three days depending on size and complexity. It takes longer because we’re doing it right. That’s the trade-off for a roof that actually lasts.
We give a five year warranty on our workmanship — that covers the install, the labor, everything we do. On top of that, the materials come with their own warranty. Our lifetime metal roofing from Best Buy Metals is covered for life, so you’ve got lifetime coverage plus our five year guarantee. Shingles come with a manufacturer’s warranty plus our two year workmanship guarantee on the install. Either way, you’re covered.
That’s what we’re here for. Call us, or set up a free estimate and we’ll come walk your property and tell you straight what’s going on.
